I have always loved anything audio-visual. As a kid, my father encouraged my brother, Hogan, and me to follow our passion for filmmaking. By the age of 12, we had already mowed enough lawns to save up for our own camcorder which we used religiously! In 2004, I began my career officially as a videographer and editor producing wedding films for a family friend who was in the event videography industry. In 2014, I ultimately purchased Michael’s Video & Wedding Cinema from longtime mentor Mick Azar and still operate the business to this day.

In 2016, while filming for the Greenbrier Resort, I met Erik Hastings, better known as “Erik the Travel Guy”. Albeit a rocky and unconventional beginning, I was instrumental in the creation of the now two-time, EMMY award-winning Travel series “Beyond Your Backyard” which airs on PBS and Create TV stations nationwide as well as on streaming platforms Amazon Prime and PBS Passport. For several years I served as Executive Producer and Director of Photography for the Erik the travel guy brand.

In 2021, I began the newest chapter of my filmmaking career as I am now serving as the Executive Producer of PBS Appalachia which focuses on the underserved communities of far Southwest Virginia.

I currently reside in New Castle, VA with my wife Molly and our 4 kiddos; Luke, Isaac, Phebe, and Piper.
